Brunswick broke open a 5-5 game with a six-goal run late in the third quarter against Trinity-Pawling, besting the Pride by a 11-8 margin on Monday. Brunswick (15-1, 9-1), currently ranked second in the nation, wraps up the 2018 campaign with a home game against Berkshire on Saturday, May 19, at 3:00 p.m.
Coming out of the intermission tied at four goals apiece, the Bruins opened with a goal by Cooper Moore. The Pride followed with a game-tying goal at 3:59 but Brunswick roared back with six straight goals to take an 11-5 lead.
During the decisive run, Xander Dickson set up the first two goals, first feeding Michael Gottlieb and then Jack Montinaro for a 7-5 lead after three quarters.
Montinaro assisted on Christian Ronda’s marker to open the fourth quarter, as Gottlieb followed with a solo tally for a 9-5 advantage. Later, Dickson picked up his fourth point on the day with a goal, and Montinaro followed with a turn-and-shoot tally on the doorstep off a feed from Wilson Stephenson to give the Bruins a commanding 11-5 lead with 6:58 to play.
The Pride finished the scoring with three last-minute goals for the 11-8 final.
Brunswick goalie Patrick Burkinshaw picked up 10 saves on the day, as Logan Tucker won 14/20 face-offs. Edward Glassmeyer and Stephenson each collected a team-best five groundballs, while Ian Murray nabbed four GBs for the Bruins.
