The Bruins topped 15 other schools at the third annual Western New England Invitational at Bulls Bridge Golf Club in South Kent on Wednesday. Brunswick’s tournament-record five-score aggregate total of 375 was five strokes ahead of second-place Avon Old Farms.
Brunswick’s Ben Carpenter shot a one-under 71 to lead the field, while teammate Connor Belcastro stroked an even-par 72 to earn a runner-up medalist finish. Charlie Marvin followed with a 76, as Thomas VanBelle carded a 77 and Matt Camel and Lance Johnson finished with matching 79’s.
The group carded a total of 17 birdies and one eagle on the day, as the Bruins finished with a 75-stroke average on the challenging course. The 375 was the lowest score in the three-year history of the event.
