Brunswick dropped a 1-0 game to Salisbury on the road on Thursday. The non-league setback halted a six-game winning streak for the Bruins (12-4).
The lone run of the game came in the bottom of the third inning on a solo homer by Salisbury off of Brunswick starting pitcher JD Sparks (3-1).
The Bruins had runners in scoring position in six of seven innings, including five innings with a runner on third base, but could not plate a run. Brunswick also hit into inning-ending double plays in the first and sixth innings, ending two rallies.
Brunswick collected six hits on the day, as Aaron Sabato went 2-3 with a seventh inning triple, as the co-captain bumps his team-leading slugging percentage to 1.130 and ups his team-best batting average to .543. Luke Fisher added a pair of base knocks, as James Sassi and Aidan Redahan connected on one single apiece.
Sparks tossed 6.0 innings and whiffed a season-best six batters. The righty hurler allowed just one earned run on four hits for the tough-luck loss.
The Bruins return to action with a pivotal FAA contest against King at home on Friday, May 4.
