Baseball Picks Up League Win

Brunswick scored at least a run in five different innings against Greens Farms, dispatching the Dragons by an 8-0 score. Bruins’ hurlers Jake Hyde (2-0) and JD Sparks combined on the two-hit shut-out, as Aaron Sabato added some fireworks with a solo homer, his third of the season. The Bruins improve to 7-3 on the year and 4-1 in FAA play.

 

Luke Fisher (3-4, double, RBI) gave the Bruins a 1-0 lead in the first inning with an RBI single.

 

Leading 3-0 in the fourth inning, JD Sparks drove in a run with a sac-fly, giving the hosts a 4-0 advantage.

 

With the bases loaded in the fifth, Brunswick added a pair of runs on an infield error, boosting the Bruins’ lead to 6-0.Later in the fifth, Aidan Redahan (2-3, RBI) made it a 7-0 game on a sac-fly that scored James Sassi (2-3, run)

 

Sabato (2-4, HR, RBI) capped the scoring with a solo blast in the sixth, as the Bruins picked up their fourth shut-out win of the year.

 

Hyde went 5.0 innings for the win, striking out six, while keeping his ERA at 0.00 (13.0 innings). Sparks tossed two scoreless innings of relief work, dropping his ERA to 0.467 (15.0 innings).
