Baseball Collects 14 Hits in Win Over Fieldston

Seven Brunswick hitters combined for 14 hits to propel the Bruins to a 9-2 win over Fieldston on Saturday. The non-league road win improves Brunswick’s record to 3-1 on the season.

 

Aaron Sabato went 4-4 with three doubles and two RBI from the plate, as JD Sparks (1-0) picked up the win for the Bruins.

 

Brunswick struck first with a two-out rally in the opening inning, as Sabato doubled and was driven in by a single by James Sassi.

 

In the second inning, Trystan Sarcone knocked in a pair of runs with a two-out single to left. Sabato followed with a single that plated Sarcone from second, giving the Bruins a 4-0 lead.

 

Fieldston trimmed the deficit to 4-2 following a two-run inning in the bottom of the third.

 

Leading 6-2 in the top of the seventh, Brunswick struck for three runs. Aidan Redahan and Sarcone added RBI singles, before Sabato capped the scoring with an RBI double that scored Redahan for a 9-2 lead.

 

Sarcone had a pair of singles and three RBI for Brunswick, while Thomas Doster went 3-4 with three singles and Sassi went 2-3 with two singles and an RBI. Redahan added a single and scored three runs, as Sparks and Luke Fisher chipped in one single apiece.

 

Sparks pitched the first five innings for the Bruins, allowing two runs, one earned, and whiffed a pair of batters while scattering seven hits. Jake Hyde and Cole Mascolo each pitched an inning of scoreless relief, as Hyde struck out one.

 

The Bruins return to FAA action with a road game at King scheduled for Tuesday, April 10.
