Brunswick dropped an 82-51 decision to top-seed Hamden Hall in the semifinals of the FAA Tournament on Thursday at Hamden Hall. Despite the season-ending setback, it was the first time the Bruins (6-17) reached the league semifinals since 2015.
Fifth-seeded Brunswick fell behind in the opening minutes and never recovered, as the Hornets took a 43-23 lead into the break. The Bruins could not dent the double-figure deficit in the second stanza, as Hamden Hall cruised to the 31-point victory.
The Hornets shot an impressive 34-59 from the field (.576), including 11-24 (.440) from behind the arc, while holding the Bruins to 20-49 (.408) from the floor. Brunswick did connect on a solid 8-18 (.444) from downtown.
Ben Burns led the Bruins in scoring, dropping in a baker’s dozen on 5-7 shooting, as Jack Molloy chipped in 10 points. Harrison Caponiti grabbed a team-best five rebounds, while Khari Wilson and Henry Ellison added seven points apiece.
