Hockey Rolls Gunnery

Brunswick netted four third period goals en route to a 5-1 road win over Gunnery on Sunday. The win is the second for the Bruins (14-11-4, 13-9-4) over the Highlanders (17-10-2, 15-8-2) in the past nine days, as Brunswick beat Gunnery by a matching 5-1 score in Hartong Rink back on February 9.

Following a second period short-handed goal by Brunswick’s Christian LeSueur, the Bruins poured in four more goals in the third period to build a 5-0 lead with under two minutes to play.

Tom Richter bookended the four-goal run with a pair of tallies, including his seventh of the season with 1:52 left in the game. Ryan Carmichael (7th goal) and Charles Shaffer (13th goal) added goals during the scoring burst.

Gunnery spoiled the shut-out with a late solo marker, as the Bruins skated away with the 5-1 win.

Dan Dachille made 17 saves in goal for Brunswick.

The Bruins, well-positioned for a post-season bid, wrap up the regular season with the two-game Empire Cup beginning on Friday, February 23, at Trinity-Pawling.
