Brunswick Rally Falls Short Against Shattuck-St. Mary’s

Trailing 3-0 against Shattuck-St. Mary’s, Brunswick scored a pair of third period goals, but ultimately fell to the powerhouse from Minnesota, 4-2, at the Gunnery Showcase on Saturday. Following the non-league contest, the Bruins (13-11-4, 12-9-4) face Gunnery on Sunday, February 18.
 
Holding a 2-0 lead after two periods, Shattuck-St. Mary’s tacked on a third goal at 7:10 in the final frame.
 
The Brunswick comeback started less than three minutes later, as Ryan Carmichael notched his sixth goal of the season at 10:04. Teammate Charles Shaffer followed at 12:41, netting his 12th goal of the year, to cut the deficit to 3-2.
 
With the Bruins adding the extra skater late in the game, Shattuck-St. Mary’s (28-16-3) scored an empty-net goal with nine seconds left for the 4-2 final.
 
Brunswick goalie Alexander Rohlf made 27 save in 53 minutes.
