Visiting Millbrook netted the game-winner over Brunswick 2:10 into overtime to beat the Bruins 3-2 at Hartong Rink on Wednesday. The Bruins (7-7-3) return to action on Saturday, hosting Hoosac at 3:00 p.m.
The Bruins battled back from one-goal deficits twice during the game, netting the 1-1 equalizer in the first period and the goal that forced overtime in the third period.
Trailing 1-0 in the first period, Brunswick capitalized on a power-play, as Henry Hill (2nd goal) blasted a shot from the left point to knot the game at one apiece with 13:34 remaining. Millbrook countered nine minutes later, with the go-ahead goal, to take a 2-1 lead.
Following a scoreless second period, the Bruins tied the game at 2-2 on a shorthanded goal by Cooper Moore (2nd goal) at the midway point of the third period.
In the extra frame, the Mustangs (8-6-1) ended the contest with a goal 2:10 into the five-minute overtime session. On the play, Millbrook lit the lamp off a centering pass after collecting a loose puck near center ice.
For the game, the Bruins outshot Millbrook 40-24, as Brunswick goalie Dan Dachille made 21 saves.
