Big First Half Boosts Masters to Victory Over Bruins
Masters built a double-digit lead over Brunswick midway through the first half on Tuesday, as the Panthers rolled to a 76-49 conference win over the Bruins in Dann Gym. The loss sets the Bruins back to 0-3 overall and 0-1 in FAA play, while Masters improves to 3-2 and 2-0 in FAA action.
Following a slow start by both teams, Brunswick held a slim 3-2 lead before the Panthers went ahead 4-3 around the 12:30 mark of the first half. Masters netted a bucket with just over eight minutes to play in the half to take a 15-5 lead. The Panthers closed out the half with a 29-18 run and headed to the locker room with a 44-23 lead.
In the second half, the Bruins could not dent the deficit as the Panthers left Dann Gym with the 76-49 victory.
Masters shot .500 from the field (22-44), including 6-12 from behind the arc, as the Bruins were held to .410 overall (4-15 from downtown). The Panthers also forced 21 Brunswick turnovers, while committing 10 giveaways on the day.
Jack Molloy led the Bruins with 13 points, while Harrison Caponiti added 11 points and chipped in a team-best eight rebounds. Nine different Bruins got in the scoring column, including two points by reserve guard Will Prout, who netted his first varsity basket.
