Hockey Wins Home Opener

Brunswick broke 1-1 tie with a pair of second period goals against Trinity-Pawling on Monday in Hartong Rink, eventually skating away with a 4-1 win over the previously unbeaten Pride (3-1-0).  Following the home-opening win, the Bruins (3-2-0) travel to Westminster on Tuesday, December 12, making-up a contest previously scheduled for last Saturday.

 

Trinity-Pawling opened the contest with a short-handed goal with 6:13 seconds gone in the first period. The Pride picked up the puck outside their own blue line and moments later finished off the breakaway with a goal that pinged off the pipe.

 

Forty seconds later, after the hosts power-play expired, the Bruins tied the game at 1-1 on goal by co-captain Christian LeSueur. LeSueur used some nifty stick work for his 54^th career goal, scoring the game-tying shot in the slot.

 

In a 1-1 game in the second period, the hosts added a pair of goals set-up by Aaron Aboodi. On the go-ahead goal, Tom Richter netted his first goal of the season, finishing off a cross-crease pass from Aboodi for the doorstep put-away with 14:38 left in the frame. Brunswick dominated the visitors with a 21-7 advantage in shots in the frame, as the hosts took a 3-1 lead on a power-play goal by LeSueur with 3:24 left.

 

Late in the third period, Brunswick co-captain Ryan Carmichael iced the contest with an empty-net goal with 3:27 left in the game.
