Soccer Picks Up Another Win

Brunswick picked up its second straight win, topping Cheshire Academy by a 3-1 margin on Caputo Field on Wednesday. The Bruins (2-4-1) return to action later in the week, hosting Kent on Saturday, October 7.

Brunswick possessed the ball for the majority of the game and outshot the Cats by a 10-2 margin on the day.

The Bruins lit the scoreboard in the 19th minute on a rebound goal by Aaryan Chinai following a shot by teammate Nick Boardman. Brunswick took a 1-0 lead into the half.

Brunswick made it a 2-0 game on a Boardman finish off a nice feed by Will Maynard three minutes into the second half.

The Bruins allowed the Cats back in the game just past the 70th minute mark, allowing a misplayed ball to cross their own goal line and make it a 2-1 contest.

Cheshire seized the momentum over the next few minutes of play, getting some quality looks on goal, but the Cats were turned back by a pair of stops by Brunswick goalie Harry Barringer.

The Bruins netted an insurance goal in the 80th minute, as Steve Lopez played a through-ball down the sideline to Christian Barnard, who fed Boardman for a header finish to complete the game's scoring.

Barringer ended the day with two total saves, both coming in the second half for the Bruins.
