Track Team Earns 4x100 Gold at NEPSTA Championship
Brunswick capped the 2017 track and field season with a first-place finish in the 4x100 meter relay at the NEPSTA Division II Track and Field Championships, held at Williston Northampton on Saturday. The gold-medal finish of 43.22 seconds set a Brunswick record, as the Bruins placed ninth overall in the team rankings with 19 team points.
The quartet of Kevonne Wilder, Cam Kelly, Brandon Allen, and Cassius Johnson finished 0.17 seconds ahead of second-place Berkshire in the 4x100 finals, picking up 10 team points.
In the 100m dash, Johnson finished third in the finals with a time of 11.42 seconds, just one-hundredth of a second out of second place, as the sprinter garnered six points for the Bruins.
Kelly picked up three more team points in two other events on the day. The senior earned two points with a fifth-place finish (41’ 6.25”) in the triple jump and one point for a sixth-place result in the long jump (20’ 4.75”).
A number of Bruins marked the season finale with personal bests at the Championships.
