Brunswick scored the first 11 goals of the game and topped Westminster, 12-4, on Saturday. The Bruins, ranked 12th in the latest Inside Lacrosse-Under Armour poll, move to 11-1 overall and have a 7-0 record in NEW1 conference action.
In the coming days, the Bruins have a trio of challenging conference tests ahead as they travel to #8 Avon Old Farms (12-0, 7-0) on Wednesday, May 10, and host a pair of games, including #23 Salisbury (10-2, 7-0) on Friday night and Trinity-Pawling (7-3, 2-3) on Saturday.
In the Westminster game, the Bruins scored four goals in the first two quarters, as Sean Morris' two goals led seven other solo goal scorers for Brunswick. Xander Dickson chipped in four assists in the first half, as Brunswick took an 8-0 lead by the intermission.
Dickson set up the opening goal of the third quarter, finding Cooper Moore for a tally at 10:51. Dickson followed with his first goal of the game nearly two minutes later, finishing off an Alex Buckanavage feed and giving the visitors a 10-0 lead. Moore finished off the 11-goal assault at 4:53 of the third quarter. For the game, Dickson tallied a team-high six points with a goal and five assists.
In the final frame, Westminster outscored the Bruins 4-1, as Brody Firestein scored for the Bruins on an Owen Matthews assist.
Patrick Burkinshaw played the first three quarters in net for Brunswick, making a dozen saves, while Christian Barnard made three saves in the fourth quarter. Ben Shapiro won 11/14 face-offs for the Bruins, as Logan Tucker went 3/5 from the face-off X. Dickson, Shapiro, Spencer Decker, and Charlie Packard led the way for Brunswick with three groundballs apiece.
