Brunswick topped St. Augustine Prep by a 14-3 margin at the Katie Samson Lacrosse Festival in Radnor, Pennsylvania, on Saturday. The victory boosts the Bruins’ record to 9-1 on the season.
Brunswick, ranked 12th in the latest Inside Lacrosse-Under Armour national poll, has won nine straight games since a season-opening setback to #2 Landon on March 24.
Four different Bruins scored in the first quarter, as Brunswick built a 4-1 lead. Xander Dickson chipped in a pair of assists in the frame.
The Bruins added three goals in the second quarter, as Jack Ocken and Jimmy Heidt each netted their second goal of the game for Brunswick.
Holding a 7-1 advantage to start the second half, Brunswick poured in five more goals to take a commanding 12-1 lead at the 1:39 mark of the third quarter. Christian Ronda added two goals during the run, as Heidt and Dickson added solo assists.
Following a goal by St. Augustine to close out the third quarter, the Bruins took a 12-2 lead into the fourth. Goals by Brunswick’s Cooper Moore and James Baccile bookended the final St. Augustine tally, as the Bruins returned to Connecticut with a solid 14-3 win.
Patrick Burkinshaw (six saves) played the first half in goal for Brunswick, while Christian Barnard played the third quarter and Will Prout (two saves) defended the net in the fourth quarter. Ben Shapiro won 6/17 face-offs and matched Heidt for the team lead in groundballs with four.
