Second Inning Rally Fuels Baseball Win

Brunswick sent 11 batters to the plate in the second inning against Hopkins, as the Bruins plated six runs in the frame en route to a 7-1 road victory over the Hilltoppers on Monday. With the win, Brunswick moves to 9-1 overall and stands at 6-0 at the midway point of its 12-game FAA regular season schedule.

 

Trailing 1-0 in the top of the second inning to Hopkins, Brunswick scored six runs in the decisive frame to run away with the victory. Inning opening singles by Ryan Hanrahan, Patrick Ryan, and James Sassi loaded the bases, as Charlie Sealy knocked in Hanrahan with an infield single to tie the game at 1-1.

 

With one out and the bases still loaded, Tommy Napolitano pushed a run across with a walk, and Santiago Riera added a two-run single. Trystan Sarcone made it a 5-1 game with a sacrifice fly that scored Napolitano.

 

Later with two outs in the inning, Aaron Sabato added an RBI single to cap the six-run rally for Brunswick.

 

Following a handful of scoreless innings, Riera blasted a solo homer in the top of the seventh, giving the Bruins a 7-1 lead. The Riera homer was his first career four-bagger as a Bruin.

 

Sealy (4-0) earned the win on the mound for Brunswick, as the hurler struck-out three batters, while allowing one earned run over 6.2 innings. Reliever Nick Mosher picked up the final out for Brunswick to end the game.

 

Seven Bruins accounted for 10 hits on the day, as Riera collected a single and the lone extra-base hit with his home run, while adding three RBI. Hanrahan and Sabato each chipped in a pair of singles.
