Rowers Sweep Four Races, Retain Brunswick-Tabor Cup

Brunswick returned from the Donahue Rowing Center outside of Worcester, Mass., with a four-race sweep of league opponents Tabor, Shrewsbury, and Farmington. Keying the victory was the First Varsity boat's comfortable seven-second win, as head coach Joe Falco and his squad hold on to the Brunswick-Tabor Cup.

A pair of nearby programs, Worcester Public and Cape Cod, raced in selected events on the day.

The First Varsity boat (coxswain: Alec Edmond, stroke and co-captain: Alex Wada, 7: Will Marvin, 6: Matthew Jacobson, 5: Andrew Kelly, 4: Jack Mozingo, 3: Austin Sammons, 2: Scott Gibbons, bow and co-captain: Tate Huffman) jumped out to an early lead and remained poised in the choppy conditions. Brunswick finished seven seconds ahead of Tabor.

The Second Varsity boat for Brunswick also managed the windy conditions well, besting second place Shrewsbury by 10 seconds.

Brunswick’s Third Varsity boat remained undefeated on the season, winning by a dominating 14 seconds, as Brunswick's second entry, the Fourth Varsity, finished a boat-length ahead of Shrewsbury for second-place.

Racing in the Fourth Varsity category, the Brunswick freshmen earned a hard-fought victory, crossing four seconds ahead of second-place Shrewsbury.

Brunswick retains the Brunswick-Tabor Cup with the 4-0 result. The win breaks an overall 3-3 tie, as head coach Joe Falco holds a winning record in all contested cup events.

The Bruins travel to Salisbury next weekend and will compete for the Richard Curtis Cup.
