Nine Goal Run Propels Lacrosse to Victory

Trailing 1-0 to Loomis Chaffee, Brunswick went on a nine-goal scoring barrage in the first half and coasted to a 18-3 NEW1 conference win on the road on Saturday. The Bruins, ranked 14^th in the latest Inside Lacrosse national poll, return to Cosby Field on Wednesday, April 12, to face Taft.

 

 

Brunswick continued the run in the second, scoring the first four goals, as Cooper Moore ended the scoring assault with his second goal of the game, finishing a feed from Christian Ronda at 8:36.

 

The teams exchanged goals to cap the first half scoring, as Brunswick took a commanding 10-2 lead into the break.

 

Brunswick accounted for all the scoring in the third quarter, as five different Bruins scored solo tallies, giving the visitors a 15-2 lead. Jack Ocken netted his second of the game at 11:33, while Ben Shapiro, Ronda, Charles Shaffer and Michael Mauricio scored during the frame.

 

In the fourth quarter, James Baccile added a man-up goal, while Logan Tucker capped the scoring for the Bruins in the 18-3 final.

 

The Bruins won 19/24 face-offs, led by Shapiro’s 15/16 performance. Wilson Stephenson led the Bruins with four groundballs, as John Fox and Shapiro collected three apiece.

 

Patrick Burkinshaw picked up the win in goal for the Bruins, making a pair of saves in the first half. Reserve net-minders Christian Barnard and Will Prout each made three stops in crease relief.
