Five Bruins qualified to compete at the 82nd National Prep Wrestling Tournament later this week. Senior brothers Brooks and Andrew Hennessy, along with classmates Alex Tucker and Aiden Reynolds, join junior Lachlan Rosato at the esteemed national tournament. The two-day event begins on Friday, February 24, on the campus of Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
The five grapplers qualified for the prep school nationals after earning top-six or higher podium finishes at the New England Independent School Wrestling Association (NEISWA) Championships. Three of the five wrestlers are making a return trip to nationals, including repeat performer Rosato. The Hennessy brothers are three-time qualifiers for the Prep Nationals.
The quintet is 147-32 this season, while combining for a career win-loss record of 403-131. The group led Brunswick to a 16-1 record this season.
In addition, the five grapplers helped Brunswick win its 20th FAA crown in a row this year, while earning the program’s 13th WNEISWA title.
Andrew Hennessy (126 lbs.) holds a career record of 112-30, as the tri-captain is 30-7 this season. Andrew Hennessy finished in fourth-place at New Englands.
Fellow tri-captain Brooks Hennessy also finished fourth at this year’s NEISWA. The 123-pounder had his best season (30-7) and is 85-20 heading into the Nationals.
Rosato, the third-place finisher (220 lbs.) at New Englands, is 29-4 this season. The third captain for the Bruins owns a career mark of 77-23.
Reynolds is in the midst of his finest season on the mats, as the 182-pounder is 31-3 this year. The fifth-place finisher at NEISWA is 58-16 overall for coach Tim Ostrye at Brunswick.
Tucker, another fifth-place Bruin at NEISWA this year, set a career-high with 27 wins this season. Tucker (160 lbs.) owns a career mark of 71-42.
Historically, five former Bruins earned Prep All-American status, including two-time All-American John Errico ’16.
