Basketball Ends Season with Overtime Playoff Loss

Brunswick dropped a 51-50 overtime decision at Masters in the quarterfinals of the FAA tournament on Tuesday. The one-point, extra-session setback ends the season for the Bruins (8-14).

 

Trailing 24-22 at the break, the Bruins saw their deficit grow in the opening minutes of the second half before the visitors rallied to take a brief lead just past the halfway point of the second stanza.

 
The two teams battled down the stretch, exchanging small leads into the final minute of regulation.

With his team facing a 43-41 deficit in the final moments, Brunswick's Muna Nwana netted a game-tying bucket to force overtime.

 

The Panthers outscored the Bruins 8-7 in the extra frame for the 51-50 playoff victory.

 

For the game, Masters held a 31-21 advantage in rebounds, including a 10-5 advantage on the offensive glass. The Panthers connected on 8-14 shots from the line, while the Bruins made 9-21 from the charity stripe.

 

Muna Nwana led the Bruins with 14 points on 4-8 shooting, including connecting on 2-4 shots from behind the arc. Cam Kelly finished with a team-best eight rebounds and five assists, while adding seven points. Charlie Sealy and Will Marvin each netted eight points for Brunswick.
