Swim Team Undefeated Streak Stopped by Suffield

Brunswick’s undefeated season was ended by a talented Suffield Academy squad at Suffield on Saturday, 99-86. While Suffield’s dominating diving trio gave the hosts an 11-point advantage, the Bruins (7-1) were just two points behind the Tigers in the remaining swimming events, winning three races.

Christian Farricker won the 200IM with a time of 1:57.54. Farricker also took the top spot in the 100 butterfly with a time of 53.13. Thacher Scannell set a personal best of 53.62 in the race to place second.

The 200-freestyle relay team of Farricker, James Simone, Keegan Drew, and Marcus Hodgson won the race and set a new Brunswick record with a time of 1:30.31.

Other notable finishes included two New England Championship qualifying times. Ben Israel qualified in the 50 freestyle, along with Kevin Tu in the 100 breast stroke.

A total of 20 Bruins qualified for New Englands, and with three meets to go, the coaches and swimmers are looking forward to qualify even more swimmers to the championships.

Up next for Brunswick is a meet at Hopkins on Saturday, February 4.
