Brunswick (9-1) topped Iona Prep on the road Thursday, 73-9. The Bruins won 11 of 13 matches, including 10 by pinfall.
Eight of the Bruins pin victories were earned by William Donovan (8-2), Andrew Hennessy (16-5), John DeLucia (18-2), Alex Tucker (15-7), Tim Saunders (17-3), Aiden Reynolds (18-1), Lachlan Rosato (16-3), and Antonio Rogliano (8-1).
In one of the more exciting moments of the contest, Emmett Bell earned his pin-win with an upper body move in the opening period.
Harry Fett (17-5) rallied in the first minute of his match, notching his team-leading 15th pin.
Dylan Reynolds (13-9) collected an excellent overtime come-from-behind win. Trailing 10-4 in the closing moments of the second period, Reynolds earned a pivotal two-point reversal to make it a 10-6 match. In the third period, Reynolds sent the match into overtime with a two-point takedown and two points for a near fall, tying the match at 10-10 heading into overtime. In the sudden-victory extra period, Reynolds shot in and earned a takedown to win the match.
Rishi Das (9-3) earned a 9-1 decision, while Jojo McCurdy took the lone forfeit at the 106-pound weight class.
The Gaels scored their nine points in two matches, when Brunswick's Aengus Rosato dropped a 7-1 decision, and Brooks Hennessy (15-5) fell to Iona's top wrestler late in the third period.
Brunswick returns to action at the FAA Championships on Saturday, January 28, at Greens Farms. The Bruins have won 19 straight FAA team titles, and earned 32 of the last 33 FAA crowns.
