Trailing 3-1 in the first period to Portledge, Brunswick fought back to earn a 4-4 tie at Hartong Rink on Wednesday. The Bruins (9-5-3) return to the ice on Friday, hosting Loomis-Chaffee at 4:30 p.m.
Following an opening goal by Portledge in the first period, Christian LeSueur netted the first of his two goals, tying the game at 4:49.
Portledge tacked on two more goals in the opening frame for a 3-1 lead, before Brunswick’s Brendan Gregoire notched his first-ever goal for the Bruins at 11:05.
After a scoreless second period, Brunswick tied the game at 3-3 in the third period following a Jack Forrest goal at 4:10. The tally was Forrest’s second of the season for the Bruins.
Portledge scored the go-ahead goal with just 2:30 left to play in the game, giving the visitors a 4-3 lead.
Brunswick pulled its goalie for a chance to tie the game. After peppering the Portledge keeper with a number of shots, the Bruins netted the equalizer with 29 seconds left in regulation.
On the tying goal, Nick VanBelle swept in from the left and fed a cutting LeSueur at the doorstep. The LeSueur goal was his 13th of the season.
Goalie Dan Dachille made 14 saves in 49 minutes for Brunswick.
