Swimmers Move to 4-0

Brunswick won 10 of 11 swimming events at Kent on Saturday, setting two new pool records. With the 101-77 win, the Bruins improve to 4-0 on the season.

Marcus Hodgson broke Kent pool record in the 100 freestyle with a time of 47.97, while Thacher Scannell set a personal best and a pool record time of 4:49.28 in the 500 freestyle. Scannell’s time broke one of the oldest pool records at Kent.

An example of the Bruins’ team-first attitude was on display, as Charles Ariyibi willingly swam the two longest races, the 200 and 500 freestyle, to support the needs of the squad.

In the relays, the team of Cole Pierce, Scannell, Christian Farricker and co-captain Will Powers won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:43.63.

The 200 freestyle relay saw Hodgson, Nico Apostolides, Keegan Drew and co-captain Jack Powers take the 200 freestyle relay in 1:34.95.

Powers, Scannell, Drew and Tate Robinson raced to victory in the 400 freestyle relay with the winning time of 3:25.62.

In the individual races, Brunswick took first in seven events:

Will Powers: 200 freestyle 1:52.86
Christian Farricker: 200 individual medley 2:00.05
Marcus Hodgson: 50 freestyle 22.13
Cole Pierce: 100 butterfly 55.76
Marcus Hodgson: 100 freestyle 47.97
Thacher Scannell: 500 freestyle 4:49.28
Christian Farricker: 100 backstroke 56.43

Up next for the Bruins is a face-off against Loomis at home on Wednesday, December 14.  The Pelicans were of the three teams that defeated Brunswick last season.
