Basketball Tops Millbrook in Overtime

Brunswick needed an extra four minutes of overtime to defeat Millbrook in Dann Gym on Wednesday, topping the Mustangs 76-75. Four Bruins hit double figures, as Will Marvin led the Bruins with 21 points.
 
In the first half, the Bruins trailed by as many as eight points before closing the gap to 31-27 by the intermission.
 
Brunswick tied the game at 31-31 to open the second half, before the Mustangs went on a 23-15 run to take a 54-46 lead with under eight minutes left in regulation.
 
The Bruins methodically chipped away at the deficit in the final minutes of the second half to tie the game. Brunswick had a chance to win the game with less than two seconds to play, but missed a pair of free throws with the game tied 66-66.
 
In the extra session, Brunswick jumped out to a 72-67 lead on Millbrook before the Mustangs closed the gap to 74-72 in the last minute. After the Bruins took a 76-72 lead in the waning seconds, Millbrook hit a running 27-foot three-pointer for the 76-75 final.
 
For the game, the Bruins held Millbrook to 27-70 (.385) shooting from the field, including 11-39 from behind the arc. While Millbrook outrebounded Brunswick 33-25, owning a 12-5 advantage on the offensive glass, the Mustangs committed 27 turnovers to the Bruins’ 17.
 
Marvin led the Bruins with 21 points on 7-12 shooting, including 4-8 from downtown. Cam Kelly added 14 points, while Charlie Sealy added 13 and a team-high six rebounds. Muna Nwana was the fourth Bruin to hit double figures, chipping in a dozen.
