The Brunswick sailing team was tested by the best team race sailing schools in New England this weekend at MIT, emerging as the champion and winning the President’s Trophy for the first time in program history.
After a very difficult double round robin, Brunswick entered the final four along with Tabor, St. George’s, and Hotchkiss — three schools that have collectively won this event all but two times since its inception in the 1970s.
With a more stable breeze direction settling in for the end of the day, the Bruins took control of the regatta and sailed each team two more times, running away with the event with six-straight wins.
The team is off to the Baker High School National Championship in Minnesota in two short weeks.
