Bruins Edge Hamden Hall in FAA Win

Brunswick edged FAA foe Hamden Hall by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday at the Varsity Baseball Field on Edwards Campus.

With the game knotted at 1-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Bruins executed the perfect squeeze play to take the lead. The play began with Jerry Guzman stepping into the box after a pitching change by the Hornets. With no balls and one strike, Guzman laid down the perfect bunt to bring Riley Redahan home and make the score 2-1.  Sam Sealy came up next and hit an in-field single to bring the game to 3-1.

The Bruins followed up with two flawless defensive innings behind the talented arm of Boston Flannery, who struck out seven of the possible 12 outs. The senior recorded the win after coming into the game in the fourth inning. Player Crosby started the game and pitched three innings while surrendering no runs.

Offensively, the Bruins were led by Redahan, who was 2-for-4, and five other Bruins recorded a hit in the victory. All 24 batters who came to the plate put the ball in play as the Bruins' offense recorded zero strikeouts against -- a very rare feat.

Next up is New England powerhouse Salisbury School on Friday, followed by Poly Prep on Saturday.
