Crew Retains Kulaga Cup

 

Brunswick's crew of Lucas Tan '24 (coxswain), Henry Andren '24 (stroke), Jimmy Cabot '23, Reed Eddy '25, co-captain Campbell Officer '23, co-captain Ruffin Bryant '23, Colin Devine '24, Sam Subramaniam '23, and Scott Raissis '23 (bow) handled the varied and difficult conditions on Cedar Creek Reach which saw an outgoing tide, strong tailwinds, significant chop, and rain.

 

The Brunswick 2nd Varsity Eight struggled in some particularly big waves in the early part of their race and could not keep up with a fast Fairfield Prep 2V who finished almost 5 seconds ahead of Brunswick's 2V.

 

The Bruin 3rd Varsity Eight notched another important league win in their race. The crew of Sam Veiner '26 (coxswain), Henry Roth '25 (stroke), Connor Dahnke '26, Quinn Evans '26, Jamie Schwarz '25, David Chavarria '23, Tony Zhu '25, Charlie Sulkowski '26, and co-captain Tomas Jasson '23 (bow) opened up a 10-second margin over their opponents. 

 

Brunswick also won the 4th Eight event by open water. In the last race of the day, with the course shortened due to conditions, the crews were level in the opening part of their race. As the crews passed Captain's Cove Seaport, Brunswick's 4th Eight began to move away as they rowed out towards Black Rock Harbor.

 

Brunswick retains the Kulaga Cup, named in memory of Joey Kulaga (FP '19).
