Bruins Go Low in Key FAA Road Contest

The golf team shot its lowest score of the season — a five-score aggregate of 180, with an average of 36 — to win its fourth road match in a week and run its record to 10-1 (2-0 FAA) with a comeback victory over league rival Hamden Hall on Monday at New Haven Country Club.

Junior Will Harned led the way with a bogey-free, two-under-par 32.

Despite splitting three individual matches, it was 'Wick's five-score aggregate of 180 strokes that bested the hosts by six and Harned's medalist score that added up to a 6-3 Bruins’ victory under the FAA scoring system.

The junior Wisconsin commit's remarkable "clean card" of seven pars and two birdies on the historic, traditional New Haven course's undulating, sloping greens was supported by junior James O'Connor's steady, virtually mistake-free 35, and Virginia-bound senior tri-captain Sam O'Hara and sophomore Rocket Servick, who continued his stellar play, with a pair of 36s, followed by senior tri-captains Harry Bonomo (41) and Henry Devaney (43).

’Wick looks forward to hosting CHSAA power Fordham Prep on Thursday at Round Hill Club for what promises to be a competitive non-league matchup.
