Brunswick Rowers Split Races with Salisbury

Brunswick and Salisbury renewed their rowing rivalry on Lake Washinee in Salisbury on Wednesday.

The racing started off with a resounding Brunswick win in the 3rd Eights race. The Brunswick 3rd Eight rowed away from their competition to win by a large margin. Brunswick's 4th Eight joined in with the 3rd Eights and  outraced the Salisbury 3rd Eight as well.

Brunswick's 2nd Eight also earned an open water win in their race. The crew rowed cleanly and led wire to wire over Salisbury.

In the 1st Eights race, the crews were level after 500m, but Brunswick was outrowed in the middle portion of the race. The Knights finished the 1500m course in 4:19.2 -- the fastest time ever for a Salisbury boat on its home course. Brunswick was two lengths back in a time of 4:25.9.

The teams came together after the race in the spirit of good sportsmanship, and the Brunswick captains gave the Richard Curtis Trophy over to their counterparts from Salisbury. In the 17-year history of the trophy, it has changed hands nine times. Salisbury now has eight wins to Brunswick's nine.
