Baseball Slugs Way to Victory

The Bruins defeated their crosstown foes from GCDS by a score of 15-3 in six innings on Monday afternoon. 

The team got things started in the first inning when Michael Yeager's sac fly to right field with the bases loaded scored Player Crosby from third in the top of the first inning.

Greenwich Country Day knotted the game up at one in the bottom of the second inning when an overthrow by Jerry Guzman on an attempted steal to third tied the game up at one.

The game was tied at one with the Bruins batting in the top of the fourth when Trip Williams laid down a bunt on the first pitch of the at bat, with the bases loaded, opening the flood gates to a seven-run inning.

Boston Flannery led the Bruins to victory by driving in four runs and going 3-for-3 at the plate. Flannery drove in runs on a single in the fourth and a home run in the sixth.

The Bruins totaled 12 hits in all. Flannery, Jerry Guzman, and Yeager all managed multiple hits for the Bruins.  

Player Crosby got the win for the Bruins. The right-hander lasted four and two-thirds innings, allowing one hit and three runs while striking out seven. Reed Hyde threw one and one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen.

With the combination of timely hitting and a defensive misplays by GCDS, along with solid pitching, the Bruins came away with a 15-3 victory.

Next up are the GFA Dragons on Tuesday at Brunswick. First pitch is at 4:30.
