Brunswick topped Deefield after dominating the second half on the way to a 21-10 victory at Cosby Field on Saturday.
The two NEPSAC lacrosse rivals have split their last 10 contests going back to 2013.
The first half of the game was a back-and-forth affair, with DA taking an early lead in the first quarter, 2-1, and the Bruins responding quickly and pulling ahead for an 8-4 lead after one.
Brunswick maintained a three or four goal cushion throughout the rest of the half, but Deerfield kept the pressure on and scored the first goal of the second half to make it 13-10. That was the Big Green’s only goal of the second half, with Brunswick closing out the game on an 8-0 run.
Senior midfielders Tomas Delgado and Leo Hoffman each had big days for the Bruins to lead the offensive juggernaut.
“I am so proud of this group," Hoffman said. "Being ranked number one, with a ton of pressure on everyone's shoulders, we dug deep in a big rivalry game. It's special. But we have a big week coming up to focus on now.”
The Bruins do have quite a busy week on the road ahead, taking on Kent on Wednesday, Darien High School on Thursday, and Loomis on Saturday.
