'Wick Punches Ticket to FAA Finals

Brunswick stamped its ticket to Saturday's FAA Championship game with a 54-43 win over St. Luke's on Thursday evening in Dann Gym.

The Bruins opened the game on a 13-2 run, forcing the Storm into contested looks and capitalizing on the offensive end. The stretch was highlighted by a Malik Samms steal and fast-break dunk that sent the home crowd into a frenzy. But St. Luke's would mount a comeback as Brunswick's starting backcourt, Samms and Ethan Long, sat on the bench with two fouls apiece. The teams headed to the break with Brunswick leading 28-25.

Brunswick scored the first eight points of the second half to take an 11-point lead and never looked back. Although St. Luke's would remain within striking distance, as they hit several tough shots to prevent Brunswick from truly putting the game out of reach, the Bruins lead was never less than six. In the final minute, it was all but a formality as St. Luke's was forced to send Brunswick to the free throw line multiple times.

It was a true team effort from Brunswick, which received tremendous contributions from all eight players who logged minutes. Luke Michalik came up big on the defensive end and added eight points. Wyatt Triestman led the Bruins in scoring with 17 and Ethan Long had 11.

Brunswick will face Greenwich Country Day for the FAA title on Saturday at 5 p.m. in Dann Gym.
