'Wick Caps Perfect FAA Regular Season

Brunswick defeated Greens Farms, 70-62, on Thursday to close out the regular season with a 17-5 record and a perfect 13-0 mark in FAA league play.

The Bruins found early success on the offensive end, led by five first-half three pointers from Wyatt Triestman, but their defense left something to be desired. Tired legs from an intense contest less than 24 hours before affected their execution and provided the Dragons with too many easy looks. As a result, Brunswick trailed 40-38 at the break.

But this Bruins squad is a proud bunch and was determined to end the regular season on a high note, despite having already cemented the No. 1 seed in the FAA playoffs. As they have done so many times throughout the season, Brunswick remained poised in the face of adversity. They turned up the defensive intensity, holding the Dragons to 22 second-half points, and came up with big baskets when it mattered most, putting the game out of reach in the finals minutes.

Triestman and Ethan Long led Brunswick with 21 points each, while Will Graves added 16 in a big performance off the bench for the second night in a row.

Brunswick now has a week off and awaits the winner of an FAA quarterfinal matchup between St. Luke’s and Hamden Hall. The Bruins will host the semifinals in Dann Gym next Thursday.
