The Bruins pulled out a hard fought win against FAA foe St. Luke’s by a score of 48-42 on Senior Day at Dann Gym on Monday afternoon. Brunswick honored Nick Burns, Luke Michalik, Malik Samms, Sam Sealy, Jon Sigurdsson, and Wyatt Triestman prior to the contest.
It was a low scoring affair for the first 16 minutes. Turnovers, poor shooting, and lock-down defense by both teams left the Bruins trailing 18-15 at halftime.
Brunswick came out of the break and relied on what it does best, perimeter pressure and transition offense.
Leading by nine with five minutes to play, the Bruins looked to be in control, but the Storm would not go quietly and found themselves with possession of the ball down by just three with a minute remaining. Matty Augustine came up with a steal off of an Ethan Long deflection and passed the ball ahead to Long for a fast-break layup plus the foul. After hitting the ensuing free throw, Brunswick’s defense came up big on the next two possessions and closed out the victory.
Wyatt Triestman led the way offensively with 14 points and Ethan Long added 12.
