Bruins Top GFA, Loomis Visits on Wednesday

Brunswick topped Greens Farms Academy, 66-45, in Dann Gym on Tuesday afternoon.

After taking an early 10-2 lead, the Bruins allowed the Dragons to remain within striking distance as they were repeatedly unable to finish open looks around the basket and in transition. Despite their offensive struggles, Brunswick took a 12-point lead into the break with hopes that the shots would start to fall after intermission.

But the second half opened just as the first had ended, with Brunswick having their way with the opponent and not capitalizing on opportunities. Despite the offensive slump that has plagued them of late, Brunswick is confident that its defense can get the job done. In need of a spark midway through the half, the Bruins went to a full-court press, wreaking havoc with their length and athleticism. Finally able to exhale, Brunswick’s bench checked in to run out of the final few minutes of regulation.

It was a balanced scoring effort for the home team as Wyatt Triestman netted 15 points, Malik Samms and Ethan Long had 13, and Jon Sigurdsson added 10.

It’s a quick turnaround for Brunswick, as the team is back on the hardwood at home tomorrow against Loomis at 4 p.m.
