Big First Half Propels 'Wick to Homecoming Win

Brunswick defeated New England Prep Conference rival Salisbury School, 49-6, on Saturday evening in front of a big crowd at Robert L. Cosby Field on Homecoming.

Elijah Cromartie ’24 was near perfect under center, going 12-for-15 for 217 yards with three touchdowns. Junior Bryce Davis continued his stellar campaign with 128 rushing yards and three touchdowns on only eight rushing attempts. Senior Riley Redahan also added a touchdown, finishing with seven carries for 25 yards. The offense racked up 425 yards of total offense: 217 through the air and 208 on the ground. Sophomore Oliver Reynolds went 7-for-7 on PATs to stay perfect on the season.

On the defensive side of the ball, Brunswick was close to pitching a shoutout for the second week in a row. The defense held Salisbury to 116 total yards of offense (68 passing yards and 48 rushing yards).

Cromartie and the Bruins’ offense came out firing on all cylinders. On the second play of the game, Cromartie connected with senior WR Tomas Delgado for a 64-yard strike to put the Bruins up six — Reynolds added the PAT to make it 7-0. A few moments later, Davis broke off a 65-yard run down the sidelines to make it 13-0 — Reynolds made it 14-0.

’Wick put together a long drive to start the second half and punched it in, as Cromartie found a familiar target, Delgado, through the air for a nine-yard touchdown. Reynolds’ extra point made it 21-0. After the defense forced a three-and-out and a short punt by Salisbury, the offense took over with great field position, going into its bag of tricks and scoring again on a 45-yard touchdown pass to junior Tyler Lloyd on a flea flicker — 28-0 Bruins.

The home team strung together two more long drives in the opening half and capped them both off with 10-yard touchdown runs by Davis. The Bruins went into the locker rooms with a 42-0 lead.

Redahan capped off the scoring for the home squad with a three-yard TD run in the third quarter.

The Bruins hit the road next Saturday to take on Williston Northampton at 2 p.m. in East Hampton, Massachusetts.
