The Brunswick Bruins opened the 2022 campaign at home on Cosby Field on Saturday — ultimately dropping a 42-7 decision to the Hun School of Princeton.
Hun’s offensive line paved the way for its running backs, who rushed for over 300 yards on the afternoon.
The Raiders utilized their size advantage to keep the Bruins’ defense on the field for the majority of game, and their offense converted a few key third and fourth downs to extend drives.
The Bruins (0-1) were held scoreless until after the half-time break, when they scored on the first drive. Elijah Cromartie hit Tomas Delgado coming across the field for a 44-yard touchdown. Cromartie completed 9-of-18 passes for 97 yards on the day.
Unfortunately for the Bruins, after their score, Hun mounted another drive that was punctuated with a one-yard run for a touchdown.
The Bruins will hit the road next Saturday and head to Suffield, Conn., to face Suffield Academy in another league match-up.
