Bruins Prevail in FAA Showdown

Senior co-captain Owen Hayes birdied the par-five 18th hole at New Haven Country Club to secure a share of medalist honors and help lead the Bruins to a convincing team victory against highly touted Hamden Hall on Monday afternoon.

Hayes shot a one-over par 37 on the second nine at the demanding and sneaky tough Wille Park-designed golf course that sits next to Lake Whitney in New Haven.

Fellow Bruins Will Harned (38), Fritz Smith (39), Sam O’Hara (41), Henry Devaney (42), and Christian Close (43) all contributed to the 7.5-1.5 win — which was scored by FAA rules with one point going to each individual match winner, one point going to the medalist, and two points going to the team with the low-five aggregate.

Undefeated Brunswick (5-0) will split the squad for a pair of matches against these same Hornets from Hamden Hall (at The Stanwich Club) and Greenwich Country Day (at Burning Tree Country Club) on Tuesday, May 3.
