Yeager Shines on Mound, Bruins Sweep Double Header
Michael Yeager toed the bump for Brunswick in game two on Saturday afternoon and shut down Poly Prep to lead the Bruins to a 2-0 victory.
Yeager threw a complete game, one hitter for the bruins. The sophomore, who didn't allow a run and struck out seven, took a no-hitter into the sixth inning when it was ruined by a single.
Brunswick scored all of its runs in the top of the third inning. Yeager led off the inning with a line drive to left field. Wim Nook recorded his first varsity hit and the Bruins had runners on the corners with nobody out. Nook stole second to put two runners in scoring position. Riley Redahan hit a line drive to left field that allowed two runs to score and ’Wick never looked back.
Redahan, Nook, Nicholas Bianco, and Yeager each managed one hit to lead the Bruins’ offense.
Nook was also phenomenal in the field at second base for the Bruins.
Brunswick returns to action Tuesday afternoon with a game at King. 4 p.m. start.
