The varsity golf team knocked perennial New England power Taft from the ranks of the unbeaten in running its record to 4-0 with a statement-making seven-stroke triumph at Greenwich Country Club on Wednesday.
The Bruins were outstanding throughout the length of their lineup in sunny, breezy conditions on the pristine, classic GCC track, compiling a five-score aggregate of 193 to Taft's 200.
Their talent and depth were once again on display as they were paced in the top slot by junior captain Sam O'Hara's one-over par 37, which was immediately backed up by a pair of impressive 38s posted by Harry Bonomo (who opened his round three-under after five holes) and sophomore Will Harned, with senior captain Owen Hayes and Andrew Stickel rounding out the scoring with 40.
'Wick managed to stay solid and in control throughout, avoiding "big misses" to hover near par against the Rhinos, who entered the match undefeated in four previous outings.
