Brunswick outlasted Taft, 7-5, in a battle of highly-ranked lacrosse teams on Wednesday afternoon in Watertown, Conn.
The story of the game was the outstanding play of both goaltenders — including the stellar performance of ’Wick senior co-captain Luke Schlank (14 saves) — and the stifling one-on-one defense from each team. Goals were hard to come by.
The Bruins led 4-1 at halftime before the Rhinos cut it the deficit to one by the start of the final quarter. The home team, in fact, tied the contest at four early in the fourth before ’Wick pulled away to secure its seventh victory of the season.
Brunswick (7-0) will host Hill Academy (Canada) on Cosby Field this Friday at 4 p.m.
