Bruins Return to Win Column, Top Albany

Brunswick scored four first-period goals — including three in the final 1:21 of the frame — and ultimately shut out Albany Academy, 5-0, on Wednesday afternoon in New York’s state capital.

The Bruins’ number-one star would have to be junior goaltender Will Baker, who bailed out his teammates on a number of occasions during the contest (especially in the later stages, when the feet may have been taken off the gas) and wound up with 27 saves in all.

Junior co-captain James Shannon had a pair of goals, as did sophomore Sean Gibbons, and senior d-man John Burdett rounded out today’s trio of lamp-lighters.

Currently, ’Wick sits near the top of the Large School Tournament bracket with two league games remaining to try to improve its standing. Anything’s possible this time of year with every tilt on the NEPSIHA schedule having an impact on the RPI.

A rematch with Frederick Gunn in Washington, Conn., is next on Friday night at 6 p.m.
