Bruins Top FAA Foe Hopkins in Hoops

Brunswick traveled to New Haven on Wednesday evening to face FAA opponent Hopkins and controlled the game from start to finish, never trailing on the scoreboard in a 46-31 victory.

Tristan Joseph scored the first points of the game with a three pointer from the corner, sparking a 21-7 run in the opening minutes. Brunswick took a 30-14 lead into the break, led by Jon Sigurdsson’s 10 first-half points.

It was a team effort the whole way as all Bruins got in on the action. Sigurdsson had a game-high 18 points, including a powerful alley-oop dunk off of a perfectly placed lob from Joseph on an inbounds play from under the basket in the final minutes of regulation.

Malik Samms chipped in 13 points, while Luke Michalik and Matty Augustine controlled the glass with 13 and 11 rebounds, respectively.

Brunswick hosts Hamden Hall on Friday, looking to even the season series after a nine-point loss late last month. The winner will take sole possession of the top seed in the league heading into the final week of the season.
