Pair of Bruins Sign National Letters of Intent

Brunswick celebrated two student-athletes — Kha’lil Eason (University of New Haven) and Jalen Johnson (Pace University) — who signed National Letters of Intent on Wednesday to continue to pursue their football athletic careers as collegiate student-athletes.

Eason was one of the most dynamic and productive players in NEPSAC this past season. He was selected 1st Team All-New England and 1st Team All-New England as a running back. He rushed for 556 yards on 95 attempts, averaging 5.6 yards per rush. Eason was also a huge asset in the passing game, accounting for 27 receptions for 329 yards. Overall, Eason had 1,313 all-purpose yards and totaled 16 touchdowns.

“Kha’lil was a constant leader for us. He has the natural ability to positively influence and challenge those around him to be better every day,” said Assistant Coach Wayne McGillicuddy.

“His impact on his teammates, classmates, coaches, teachers, and younger boys on campus will be missed and felt for a long time to come. University of New Haven is not only getting a great football player but they’re getting an even better person.”

In his two years as a student-athlete and member of the varsity football and track and field teams, Johnson has made a significant impact in the Brunswick community. He is an extremely smooth and agile athlete who was not afraid to help defend the run when called on. He played defensive back and receiver for the Bruins this fall. Johnson accounted for two touchdowns on two pick-sixes. Johnson also accounted for two fumble recoveries. In eight games, he tallied 25 tackles and three tackles for a loss.

“A natural cornerback, Jalen was a key piece of our defense in addition to contributing as a returner on special teams,” Head Coach Mike Hannigan said.

“He showed his athleticism and versatility while lining up at wide receiver, too. Jalen is a natural athlete who has fought through injury and adversity to achieve his goals. Pace University is getting a good one.”
