Injury-Riddled Hoopsters Fall Short at Hamden Hall

Playing their second game of a back-to-back, Brunswick fell to Hamden Hall, 65-56, on Thursday afternoon in Hamden.

The already undermanned Bruins suffered yet another injury just two minutes into the contest when starting junior guard Malik Samms went down with an ankle injury, leaving them with only eight able bodies left on the roster.

Despite the setback, the team banned together, receiving big minutes from young players who rose to the occasion. Brunswick clawed their way back from an early 11-1 deficit and went into halftime trailing 31-25.

The Bruins remained within striking distance deep into the second half, led by Jon Sigurdsson, who had a game and career high 28 points. With five minutes to play, Brunswick cut the lead to one, but were unable to close the gap as the Hornets answered with one last run, stretching the final margin to nine.

London Ulysse contributed 11 points in his first significant varsity action, while Charlie Johnson added 8.

The Bruins travel to Cheshire on Saturday, weather pending.
