'Wick Drops Non-League Game to South Kent in OT

South Kent School -- a program that has gone the soccer academy route and is no longer affiliated with NEPSIHA -- hung around and ultimately earned a 5-4 OT win against the hosts from Brunswick on Wednesday afternoon at Hartong Rink.

It was one of those games -- especially after the Bruins dominated the first period and still went to the locker room tied at one -- that felt like it might go either way from then on. 

And it did, as the teams traded goals in the second to remain knotted at two (with the Cardinals picking up their play) and then went back and forth in the third -- as SKS took the lead, 'Wick answered with two power-play goals, and the visitors forced overtime with just under three minutes to go in the contest.

The extra session is always a crapshoot. And South Kent buried the first real chance of the five-minute frame to earn the victory ('Wick did have a potential breakaway on the first shift that went to no avail).

The Bruins' record now stands at 11-4-1 (10-3 in NEPSIHA) as the stretch run commences. 

Williston is expected to visit Hartong (weather permitting) on Saturday at 1 p.m.
