The Brunswick basketball team made the short trip across town to face FAA opponent Greenwich Country Day School, coming away with a 81-57 victory in their first action of the new year on Tuesday.
The teams traded baskets for the first several minutes of play, resulting in a 10-10 tie will 11 minutes remaining in the first half. The Bruins finally shook off the winter break rust, going on a 21-3 run to open up an 18-point lead, propelled by a Tristan Joseph and Wyatt Triestman scoring spree that included a fast-break dunk and four three pointers.
Brunswick took a 36-28 lead into halftime and remained in control the rest of the way, the Bruins' length and athleticism overwhelming the Tigers. Joseph led the way with 27 points while Triestman added 20. Jon Sigurdsson, Malik Samms, and Matty Augustine chipped in 10, 8, and 7, respectively, all playing key roles in the outcome.
A couple postponements on the schedule leave the Bruins to wait for next Wednesday’s game against St. Luke’s at 4 p.m. in Dann Gym.
