Bruins Take Down T-P on the Road, Move to 5-3

Brunswick returned home from Trinity-Pawling with a 5-3 record after a 3-2 victory against the Pride on Wednesday.

While the scoreboard may tell a tale of two halves (3-0, 0-2), there’s a little more to it than that.

All three of ’Wick’s goals were scored in a span of five minutes in the first half. In the 14th minute, Kevin Miller's throw-in found Malik Samms' feet down the left sideline. The dynamic junior completed a series of give-and-go passes with senior Patrick Keller that ultimately ended with Keller depositing the ball past the TP Goalkeeper.

Just three minutes later, Gavin Foster was on the end of a cross from Nico Montoni with a solid one-timed finish just under the crossbar. Will Higgs jumpstarted the visitors’ third and final tally of the match in the 19th minute, winning the ball in the attacking third and successfully beating two T-P defenders heading towards goal. His shot on goal was stuffed by the Pride GK, but Keller was there to convert the rebound for his second goal of the day (and fourth in two matches).

Despite handedly winning the possession battle and earning numerous scoring chances throughout the remaining 71 minutes, the Bruins were unable to find the back of the net again.

Kudos is well deserved to the home team, who stuck to its style of play and earned two goals past GK James Walker (three saves on the day) on long serves over the top in the 66th and 89th minutes.

The Bruins have the next week off, resuming action at Salisbury on October 20.
