After only five practices together, the young Bruins kicked off their season against one of the top water polo programs in the nation, Greenwich Aquatics, falling to their competitors by a score of 17-4.
The boys played hard and managed to keep things competitive early on but were unable to match the speed, depth, and physicality of their more experienced opponents over four quarters.
Offensively, the team was led by strong play inside from Peter Saunders and effective outside shooting from Callum Walker and Julio Ubina. On the defensive end, solid efforts from Marco Leao and Martin Robredo, who split time in goal, along with Saunders, Walker, and Parker Tichio helped limit the damage.
Looking ahead, the Bruins will look to learn from their mistakes and shore up their weaknesses as they prepare for a rematch with Greenwich Aquatics on Saturday, October 9.
